Thirty soldiers march into the wilderness. What waits for them was never meant to be found.

•The French and Indian War is tearing through the American frontier.

Captain Nathaniel Crowe and thirty British soldiers are sent to resupply the isolated Blackwood Fort, where forty-eight men of the 35th Regiment should be waiting for them. But as Crowe's column pushes deeper into the wilderness, the forest begins to reveal signs that something is terribly wrong.

Abandoned muskets lie beside the trail. Dead men appear high in the trees. Black beetles crawl from corpses. And from the darkness come the voices of people who cannot possibly be there.

When Crowe finally reaches Blackwood, he finds the fort intact—but its entire garrison has vanished.

Their weapons remain. Their beds are empty. Their meals were abandoned.

And something beneath the fort knows every soldier's name.

As Crowe searches for the missing men, he discovers that Blackwood was built over something ancient—something capable of stealing memories, imitating the dead and wearing the faces of men.

The deeper Crowe ventures beneath the fort, the more terrifying the truth becomes.

Because the enemy outside the walls is no longer the greatest threat.

Some things cannot be killed with musket and bayonet.

The Dead of Blackwood Fort is Book One of the Black Powder Horrors, a standalone military horror novel combining black-powder warfare, historical adventure, supernatural terror and desperate survival on the American frontier.
