The book "The Forbidden Fruit" tells the readers about how crimes were committed and investigated in ancient times. This is a truly historical work, built around a detective plot, and it contains humor and parody. Fans of modern detective fiction are in for some interesting surprises.

The book consists of five stories linked by a common theme. The plots are taken from the Old Testament. The book differs from traditional historical literature in its non-trivial interpretation of biblical events, which will be of interest to those who are fascinated by history. Readers will encounter familiar characters from classic detective fiction (Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, Inspector Maigret). The ideas behind the book are explained in more detail in the preface.
