A photograph from 2004 shows two women standing outside a burned house.

Neither of them is Amelia Voss.

The problem is that one of them supposedly died eleven years before the picture was taken.

Six weeks after the events at Blackwater House, investigative genealogist Genevere Christian receives another unresolved file from the collection left for her review. The records appear straightforward: Lydia Voss died in a 1993 house fire. Her sister Amelia survived, later married, and died in 2004.

But the documents don't agree with the woman in the photograph.

As Genevere traces death certificates, medical histories, trust records, handwriting, property transfers, and decades of family silence, she uncovers a deception that began in the aftermath of a tragedy, and became harder to undo with every passing year.

Then a retired trust officer who remembers the Voss family agrees to reveal what he knows.

Before he can, he dies in a records warehouse.

Now Genevere must determine not only which sister survived the fire, but why someone in the present is willing to kill over a truth buried in the past.

Because proving who lived is only the beginning.

The more dangerous question is who already knew.

The Woman Who Died Twice is the second Genevere Christian Mystery, an atmospheric, evidence-driven mystery of genealogy, inheritance, hidden identity, and the stories families build around the facts they cannot change.
