Orion Kael and Juno Varik quickly learn that they aren't just running from a group of fanatics—they are being hunted by a global machine. The Aetherian Foundation's reach extends far beyond secret labs, embedding itself within the very governments and corporations that run the world. As the pressure mounts, they find a precarious refuge with The Sentinels, a rogue cell of ex-Foundation scientists and geneticists who refuse to see the Fifth Genome weaponized.

In the heart of this network, they encounter Xan Grendel, a high-ranking Foundation insider whose conscience has finally begun to outweigh his loyalty. Risking everything to provide Orion and Juno with the intelligence they need to survive, Xan reveals the terrifying scale of Elora Finch's endgame. The chase moves from the shadows of the city to the corridors of global power, where the line between ally and enemy is as thin as a strand of DNA.
