Michigan was built for monsters: two peninsulas, a fifth of the world's freshwater, and ghost towns where industry died but the memories never left. Fog blankets the shorelines. Forests grow so thick they block the sun and smother sound.

This is land where creatures can hide.

Monsters of Michigan hunts down 24 creatures of myth and legend. From the deep woods of the Upper Peninsula to Detroit's dark waterfront, from the copper mines of Lake Superior to the industrial bones of Lake Erie.

Some creatures came with French settlers. Some myths are older than the state itself, rooted in indigenous legend. Others were dreamed up by bored loggers trying to pass the time. One was created by a camp counselor to entertain campers.

Step into the dark. Michigan's monsters are waiting for you.
