Linckes’ Great Case by Georgette Heyer is a spirited and cleverly constructed early mystery that reveals the celebrated author’s talent for sharp dialogue, lively characters, and brisk, engaging storytelling long before she became famous for her historical romances.

As the investigation unfolds, Heyer combines classic detective elements—misdirection, clues, and unexpected revelations—with her trademark wit and keen eye for social nuance. The result is both a satisfying whodunit and an entertaining portrait of British society, populated by memorable suspects whose personalities are as important as the evidence they leave behind.

Fast-paced, intelligent, and filled with understated humor, Linckes’ Great Case showcases Heyer’s ability to balance suspense with charm. A delightful and lesser-known gem of Golden Age crime fiction, it will appeal to readers who enjoy elegant mysteries, period atmosphere, and character-driven plots.
