Throughout a long career, French philosopher Gaston Bachelard explored the philosophic and poetic values of s wide range of subjects, gathered int he form of essays and in one case, a literary review, compiled in the books On Poetic Imagination and Reverie, The Right to Dream, The New Scientific Spirit, and Lautréamont.

In Monet's Lily, Frank Prem interprets Bachelard's essays and discussions, decanting the vivid imagery contained within the philosopher's work into new and accessible free verse poetic storytelling forms, bringing each story to life.
