Seventeen-year-old James Hemingway survived the "earthquake" that erased his hometown—yet he still remembers the truth: a flaming giant behind the mountain, a single sword-sweep, and everyone gone. Then a stranger leaves him a bookmarked Norse Mythology entry on Surtr, and classified footage proves the world's disasters aren't natural—they're gods walking in human skin.

Recruited by a secret academy, James discovers something worse: he isn't just a hunter—he may be a mythic vessel himself, branded with the "Black Wukong" crest and a power that can make a living clone. When that clone is dragged through an Anubis gate into a Tokyo cult's stronghold, James is forced into the Rebirth Assembly—an online gathering of monsters like Poseidon and Aphrodite—while one mistake could expose his real body to beings who can drown cities for sport.
