In the remote Grampian Mountains of Victoria, two young women vanish without a trace. Months later, the mystery remains unsolved—and the policeman who went looking for them has been killed.

Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, known as Bony, is called in to investigate. Travelling quietly and observing everything around him, he makes his way to the isolated hotel where the missing women were last seen. But the strange proprietor, his mysterious and frightened father, and a dangerous stranger with an unusual talent for knife throwing all raise more questions than answers.

As Bony follows a trail through the rugged Australian landscape, apparently unrelated clues begin to connect. Behind the peaceful mountain scenery lies a secret involving disappearance, murder, deception, and a dangerous plot.

The Mountains Have a Secret is a classic Australian mystery featuring Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, combining police investigation, suspense, remote landscapes, and a complex crime mystery.
