“This is a liberating book—free of ancestral prejudices, free of heteropatriarchal chains, and free of the drumbeat of the god—yes, lowercase—masculine that has caused us all so much harm. And I say all because those who fail to notice it either cannot—or do not want to—open their eyes and face reality. Religions—and within them—have disregarded the intrinsic value of women. Through action and omission, they have relegated them to the role of servants, not servers. They have been blamed for provoking the sin of lust in their brothers because of their clothing—as if a lustful man needed provocation to be lustful. Women have been reduced to silence and ostracism, forced to listen but not speak, and compelled to form peer groups to find vital space and oxygen to breathe. They have been overseen as though they were immature individuals needing men to guide them. Things have improved slightly today, and if this book receives the recognition it deserves, things will improve even more”. (Juan Ramón Junqueras).
