THE FORT BRAGG SECRETS: Murder, Drugs, and Corruption

Inside one of America’s most famous military installations, two highly trained men were found dead in the back of a truck on a remote logging road. One was a decorated former Army warrant officer. The other was a Special Forces master sergeant and combat veteran.

The murders initially appeared to be a mystery with no obvious connection between the victims. But as investigators reconstructed the evidence, a darker story emerged—one involving cocaine, a failed drug deal, a deadly shooting, and a trail of unanswered questions surrounding the systems that had already documented warning signs.

This narrative nonfiction investigation follows the case from the discovery of the bodies through the evidence that eventually led federal investigators to Kenneth Maurice Quick Jr. and the 2026 trial that ended with his conviction for the murders.

But solving the murders was only part of the story.

What did investigators know about the victims before they died? How did a drug network operate around Fort Bragg? Why did earlier warning signs fail to prevent further violence? And what can the public record reveal about the institutional failures surrounding the case?

Drawing on court records, official statements, investigative reporting, and documented evidence, THE FORT BRAGG SECRETS examines a case where murder, drugs, military culture, and institutional blind spots converged—with consequences that lasted for years.
