Kael Ashmore is seventeen, ordinary, and apparently unremarkable — until a stranger walks into his forge and tells him the world is breaking. The Great Prism is fracturing. The Shadow is rising. And Kael is the only person alive who can absorb its power directly. The Shardborn is the story of what happens when an ordinary person discovers they were never ordinary at all.
