Carmine is looking for a change. After the death of a distant uncle, Carmine Skarskovich, a 20-something living in squalor in upstate New York, develops a plan to escape the grasp of 27th Street: get to the funeral, get the money, and get out of Buffalo. However, the return of his estranged father puts a wrench in his plan, forcing him to revisit the traumatic events of his childhood and confront the consequences of his actions. Rekindling a relationship proves even more difficult when Carmine falls under the suspicion that his father may not be the man he claims to be. Carmine soon falls down a paranoid spiral of phantasmagoria, weighed down by his father, all at the expense of everyone Carmine thought he once knew.
