My Aunt Margaret’s Mirror is a haunting supernatural tale by Walter Scott that blends mystery, family history, and the uncanny. Framed through the recollections of an elderly relative, the story centers on a mysterious mirror connected with visions, hidden truths, and troubling events from the past. Scott uses the atmosphere of old houses, inherited secrets, and uncertain perceptions to create a sense of suspense and psychological unease. The tale reflects his fascination with folklore, superstition, and the boundary between reality and imagination. Rich in Gothic mood and historical detail, it remains an intriguing example of Scott’s shorter supernatural fiction.
