More than a decade ago, scientist Christina Whiting discovered evidence that some of the world's most mysterious ancient sites were connected by a planetary system designed to maintain the Earth's natural equilibrium.

Now someone is interfering with it.

Chris Whiting, Christina's grandson and a young archaeologist specializing in archaeological acoustics, joins a research expedition to Toniná, an ancient Maya city deep in southern Mexico. There, he and a team of scientists uncover evidence that Toniná lies at the center of a network of ancient sites whose architecture, geology, and acoustic properties suggest a purpose far beyond ceremony or worship. The structures may have been designed to interact with forces deep within the Earth itself.

But Helios Global has reached the same conclusion. The powerful corporation sees the ancient network not as something to understand, but as something to control. Its experiments are already disrupting the system, triggering earthquakes, volcanic activity, and growing instability across Mexico and Central America.

As Chris follows clues left by his grandmother and an ancient codex begins to reveal the network's true purpose, he discovers that the connection between the sites may be far older, and far more intelligent, than anyone imagined.

With the Earth's balance beginning to fail, Chris and his team must uncover what the ancient builders understood before Helios pushes the system beyond recovery.
