My Religion is Leo Tolstoy’s deeply personal exploration of faith, morality, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Rejecting conventional church authority and religious ritual, Tolstoy focuses on the ethical principles of the Sermon on the Mount, especially love, forgiveness, simplicity, and non-resistance to evil. He examines the conflict between institutional religion and individual conscience while questioning violence, wealth, social inequality, and political power. Written with clarity and conviction, the work presents Tolstoy’s vision of Christianity as a practical way of life rather than a system of doctrine. It remains an influential statement of his spiritual and moral philosophy.
