Commander General Soltari has won every battle except the one that mattered most.

After a lifetime of war, he dreams of laying down his sword for the quiet life he's earned with his wife and daughter. Instead, creatures born of shadow descend from the frozen North, murdering his family and leaving him with nothing but grief and an unrelenting thirst for vengeance. He leads an army north to destroy the Queen of Shadows before her darkness spreads—and watches his army get wiped out leaving him stranded deep in the hostile territory with only a handful of survivors.

Stripped of conquest, the journey becomes one of survival—and every choice Soltari makes to stay alive pulls him farther from the honorable commander he once was. To destroy the Queen of Shadows, he must decide whether justice and revenge are truly different, or whether saving the lands will cost him the very ideals that once made him worthy of leading them.

The story blends the spirit of classic heroic fantasy with modern character-driven storytelling.
