Roman Veksel, an analyst at Lopinor Bank, is trying to understand why customer churn came in strangely low after a language interface overhaul. Meanwhile, Timo and Paul, two farmers on a homestead outside Lovan, one after another quietly leave Lopinor for a competing bank.

Their stories run in parallel and never touch, but both circle the same idea: best doesn't mean good, and convenient doesn't mean good either. These are different qualities, and you can't measure them with the same ruler.

Book three in the World of Tortuga-on-the-Rocks series, about banks, support bots, a giant cat printed on a 3D printer, and what happens when nobody wants to hang up first.
