For four generations, the Ashworth vineyard has stood as the pride of a quiet valley, its rows of vines older than most of the families who tend them, its wine poured at every harvest festival with the same practiced grace. But beneath the golden light and clinking glasses, the Ashworth name has always carried more than tradition. It has carried debts. Promises broken. And one secret buried so deep even the family itself forgot exactly where it was hidden.

When vineyard owner Julian Ashworth collapses mid-toast in front three hundred guests, poisoned by a glass no one but he was meant to drink from, the festival's warmth curdles into suspicion overnight. Former detective Declan Crowe, who left the city for the quiet of these hills, finds himself pulled back into the one profession he swore to leave behind. Journalist Ivy Sinclair, in town to write four hundred words about a harvest celebration, finds her notebook filling instead with financial records, shell companies, and a payment trail that leads somewhere the Ashworth family never wanted anyone to look.
