Carla is a web developer, a girl who lives in jeans and hoodies, and she's been going to the parties at her friend Bet's publishing house for years for a single reason: to see Valentino Caruzzo. The star editor — tall, dark-haired, with black eyes — nicknamed "the Ice Man," who hasn't allowed himself to feel a thing since someone broke his heart.

One early morning, Valentino finds an anonymous romance manuscript on his desk, with a sticky note that says "Read it!" He devours it without being able to stop — or to sleep — and convinces himself the author is shy Carla, the girl who's always watching him from a distance. He decides to pursue her. But the author is someone else, and the misunderstanding that keeps them apart is as absurd as it is painful.

He waits a whole year for her. She knows nothing about it. And the genre he despises most ends up writing the only story he can't put down.
