These are the hidden sayings that the living Jesus spoke, discovered in the sands of Egypt and still startlingly fresh. The Gospel of Thomas is unlike any gospel you have read: no miracles, no trial, no empty tomb, just the voice of a teacher speaking in paradoxes and parables and calling you to seek, to knock, to look inward. 'The Kingdom is inside you,' Jesus says, 'and it is outside you.' Is this a lost gospel, or a gathering of sayings older than Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? Scholars still disagree, and readers will feel why the debate continues. This edition presents all 114 sayings in clear, warm, present-day English, faithful to the Coptic text and arranged to follow the sayings as they have come down to us. Whether you arrive as a seeker, a student of Scripture, or a lover of ancient wisdom, let these words do what they have always done: ask you to find their interpretation.
