I swore this cattle drive would protect my nephew and the only family left to me, my bold front the last defense against the courts taking him away. Lachlan Moreau's commanding presence on the trail has worn at my resolve with every order, every glance, until the prairie storm traps us both in this canvas shelter battered by rain and the shifting herd.

In the shelter his orders turn into a kiss I do not refuse. My soaked split riding skirt is no protection at all, and he does not stop there. One sound from our rough claiming could reach the rival drover and destroy the respectability that keeps my guardianship intact. Yet I cannot pull away from the possessive hunger that promises to take what I have guarded all this time.
