Across the centuries, one book has been treasured in Ethiopia above all others: the Kebra Nagast, the Glory of Kings. Blending scripture, legend, and national memory, it tells how the Queen of Sheba journeyed to Jerusalem to test the wisdom of King Solomon, how their son Menelik carried the Ark of the Covenant to Ethiopia, and how a new Zion was established in the highlands of Africa. Woven through the story are ancient prophecies of Christ, meditations on the nature of God, and a vision of justice and holiness that speaks to every generation. This new edition renders the classic into clear, present-day English while remaining faithful to its meaning and spirit. Whether you come to it as a work of faith, history, or world literature, the Glory of Kings will open a window into one of the oldest living traditions on earth. Part of The World Scriptures Library.
