A clear, faithful modern English rendering of the classic Mahayana Buddhist text in which the bodhisattva Maitreya is said to reveal the hidden architecture of the Perfection of Wisdom sutras. The Ornament of Clear Realisation arranges the Buddha's teaching of emptiness and compassion into eight progressive 'clear realizations' — from the initial wish to awaken, through the knowledge of paths and the training of a bodhisattva, to the final dharmakaya, the awakened body of truth. This edition preserves the beauty and precision of the original's structure while making its key terms and visionary vision of the path accessible for today's readers, whether they approach it with historical curiosity or a living interest in meditation and spiritual development. Readable introductory notes frame each chapter; a glossary of names and terms, key passages, and practical guidance for reading a foundational scripture complete the volume.
