Jami's Yusuf and Zulaikha is one of the most beloved love stories in world literature—a tale of beauty, betrayal, longing, and ultimate redemption. Written in the fifteenth century by the great Persian Sufi poet Jami, this classic poem retells the story of the prophet Yusuf (Joseph) and the noblewoman Zulaikha, who falls hopelessly in love with him. But beneath the surface of romance lies a deeper spiritual journey: Zulaikha's obsessive passion becomes a metaphor for the soul's yearning for the divine. This modern-English edition stays faithful to the original's meaning and spirit, rendering Jami's exquisite verses in clear, accessible language for today's readers. Whether you come to this story for its timeless drama or its mystical wisdom, you will find yourself drawn into a world where human love and divine grace intertwine. Part of The Sacred Wisdom Library.
