"Lady Davina," he called her name with such reverence, he might as well just put a dagger through my heart. "You are my mate."
Raine Richmond never expected her mating ceremony to turn into a public betrayal. Born into a life of control, secrets, and quiet suffering, she has always believed freedom was something she had to earn. When she attends the Moonfall clan mating ball, the bond snaps into place the moment she sees Alpha Desmond Montari.
But instead of claiming her, he publicly declares her best friend Davina as his mate, leaving Raine shattered in front of the entire pack.
Days later, Desmond returns with confusion and regret, insisting something was wrong that night, that his mind wasn't his own.
But Raine has already made her decision.
"You claimed her. In front of everyone."
"You're not my rebound."
"I'm your mate."
"I don't want this bond."
"Over my dead f*****g body!"
What neither of them yet fully understands is that the bond was never mistaken, only manipulated. Now truth is closing in, and Desmond is racing to prove what really happened that night, while Raine stands on the edge of rejecting the very bond that was always meant to be hers.
If the bond was real all along, then why did destiny need lies to tear them apart?
