In the unforgiving streets of Boston, the only thing more dangerous than breaking the rules is breaking your own heart.

Lieutenant Lydia Vance is a legend at Boston Metro EMS. Known to everyone as the "Ice Queen," she survives the relentless chaos of trauma by clinging to strict protocol. Rules don't just save lives; they keep the agonizing ghosts of her past mistakes at bay. She has no time for rookies, and she definitely has no patience for her newest probie, May Sullivan.

May is brilliant, instinctual, and fiercely determined to escape the shadow of her cold, perfectionist mother. She is everything Lydia despises: a "sunshine" rookie who relies on textbook anatomy and gut feelings to save patients. But when the two are trapped together in the claustrophobic cab of Unit 12 during a brutal Nor'easter, the freezing temperatures outside are no match for the burning, unspoken tension between them.

As high-stakes calls push them to their physical and emotional limits, the rigid line between Field Training Officer and rookie begins to blur. However, when a devastating mass casualty incident at a collapsed high-rise forces May to choose between obeying a direct order and saving a dying man's life, their fragile new dynamic shatters.

Lydia demands absolute obedience, but May refuses to let a patient slip away. Now, with their careers on the brink and an undeniable, forbidden attraction threatening to consume them both, they must figure out if love is the one emergency they can’t protocol their way out of.
