New York City, 1986. A dream begins with music—and becomes a love that neither time nor tragedy can erase.

Twenty-year-old Monica Armstrong dreams of becoming a singer. With her black leather jacket, fearless confidence, and determination to survive every rejection, she walks into a Manhattan recording studio and meets Sami Ali, a twenty-eight-year-old Egyptian-born musician, songwriter, and producer building his own American dream.

Sami hears something special in Monica's voice. What begins as music soon becomes love—recording sessions, roses, movies, rain-soaked New York nights, and walks beneath the neon lights of Times Square.

But when Monica brings Sami home to meet her family, prejudice and a father's desire for control set in motion a decision with devastating consequences.

Leather Jacket Girl is a cinematic short story about love, ambition, prejudice, grief, music, and the memories that survive when someone we love is gone.

The book also includes 10 reflections and life lessons inspired by the story, plus 10 original bonus song lyrics by Sami Abouzid.
