Starting an apprenticeship or your first job is about more than having the right skills. It is about who you are, how you communicate, how you behave, and whether you are ready to take responsibility.

In this practical and honest guide, Jakob Højstrup Laursen draws on years of experience in the construction industry and vocational education to address the challenges many young people face when entering working life.

Confidence. Discipline. Habits. Communication. Responsibility. First impressions. Workplace culture. These are skills that can make a real difference, yet they are often not taught directly.

This book is designed to help young people understand their strengths, build confidence, develop better habits and take action towards the future they want.

Through practical exercises and honest reflection, readers are encouraged to think about who they are, who they want to become, and what they can do differently.

You do not need to be perfect. You do not need to have your entire future figured out.

But you do need to be willing to learn, take responsibility and take action.

Your future does not simply happen to you.

You have a part in creating it.
