About the Book
I Identify as a Feminist is a conversation about what it truly means to be a woman in a society that often defines her before she gets the chance to define herself.
From childhood, girls are given identities, expectations, and roles—daughter, paraya dhan, good girl, wife, mother, caretaker. They are taught to adjust, sacrifice, seek permission, and measure their worth through the people they belong to. Somewhere along the way, many women lose touch with the person they were before the world told them who they should become.
This book questions those definitions.
It explores the invisible cages created by expectations, the difference between love and losing yourself, the idea that marriage and motherhood complete a woman, and the difference between being allowed to make choices and being genuinely free to make them.
But this is not a book against men, relationships, marriage, or motherhood. It is a book for a woman’s right to have an identity beyond them.
Through conversations about independence, financial freedom, emotional strength, boundaries, relationships, fear, loneliness, and self-awareness, I Identify as a Feminist invites women to ask themselves a simple but powerful question:
Who am I when I am no longer defined by what everyone else expects me to be?
Ultimately, this is a journey from being defined to becoming self-defined from seeking permission to claiming freedom, from losing yourself in relationships to loving without abandoning yourself, and from fearing judgment to choosing your own life.
Because feminism, at its heart, is not about becoming someone else.
It is about having the freedom to become yourself.
