Description & Overview

Intermarium – The Accidental Potato Superpower

What if Eastern Europe had actually gotten its act together?

In the turbulent years between the World Wars, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Yugoslavia, and the Baltic states accomplish what generations of diplomats could only dream of: they form the Intermarium, a powerful alliance stretching from the Baltic to the Balkans.

Unfortunately, nobody told them how to run it.

Led by men who are simultaneously brilliant statesmen, spectacular bureaucrats, and deeply questionable decision-makers, the new alliance immediately finds itself dealing with everything from German ambitions and Soviet paranoia to rebellious minorities, Balkan diplomacy, religious fanatics, inadequate logistics, and an alarming shortage of trucks.

Piłsudski tries to keep everyone from killing each other. Beneš discovers that bureaucracy can be a weapon. Carol II discovers that wine and pastries can solve almost any political crisis. Alexander discovers that Balkan hospitality has applications far beyond the dinner table.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, there is a potato.

Intermarium – The Accidental Potato Superpower is an irreverent alternate-history satire about the alliance that might have changed the course of Europe—and the absurd collection of people who somehow managed to make it work.

History could have been very different.

It probably shouldn't have been this funny.
