Detective Elias Thorne knows something is wrong the moment he enters Arthur Finch's silent house.

Arthur, a retired philosophy professor and Elias's closest friend, has vanished without explanation. His home is untouched, his chessboard remains unfinished, and a series of carefully hidden clues seems to have been left for Elias alone.

What begins as a missing-person investigation soon leads Elias into a mystery buried for nearly three decades—one involving a forgotten research project known as Pallas, manipulated identities, secret archives, and a system capable of deciding which version of the truth becomes real.

As Elias follows Arthur's trail from abandoned houses to Greyhaven and the hidden corridors of Pallas, he begins to question everyone around him: his superior, Arthur's estranged brother, former investigators, and even Arthur himself.

But the most disturbing discovery is personal.

Elias was connected to Pallas long before he remembers meeting Arthur.

With his own past becoming unreliable and the people behind Pallas moving to protect decades of secrets, Elias must uncover what happened on one autumn night in 1998—and determine who has been rewriting the truth ever since.

Atmospheric, intelligent, and filled with chess-inspired twists, The Stillness of Autumn is a mystery thriller about memory, betrayal, identity, and the dangerous difference between what is recorded and what is true.
