Easy Summary- The Lantern of the Last Kingdom

The Lantern of the Last Kingdom is a magical adventure about a fourteen-year-old boy named Rowan Vale. Rowan lives in a quiet village called Greyhaven, near the northern mountains. He believes the world is ordinary, even though his missing grandfather, Elias, once told him stories about lost roads, hidden cities, and forgotten kingdoms.
One rainy day, Rowan visits his grandfather's ruined farmhouse. Beneath the broken floor, he finds a secret cellar. Inside is an ancient silver lantern and a note written by Elias. The note warns Rowan that some roads disappear because people forget them, while others are hidden on purpose. It also mentions a mysterious lost kingdom called Aurendor.
When Rowan touches the lantern, a golden flame appears. The light reveals an invisible road leading north through forests and mountains. Rowan decides to follow it because he hopes to learn what happened to his grandfather.
During his journey, Rowan meets Mira Thorn, a brave young ranger; Fen, a clever talking mountain fox; and Orin Bellweather, an old storyteller who knows many secrets. Together, they travel through dangerous mountains, the haunted Mourning Wood, an underground city called Belisar, and the Valley of Sleeping Bells.
They discover that Aurendor was never destroyed. The kingdom used powerful magic to hide from the evil Hollow King and his army of shadow-creatures.
Rowan finally reaches Aurendor, but the enemy is close behind. To save the kingdom, he must carry the lantern to the ancient First Flame. Although Rowan is very afraid, he refuses to give up. He learns that true courage does not mean having no fear. It means continuing even when you are scared.
Rowan saves Aurendor, returns home, and understands the greatest lesson of his journey:
The light is still here. Carry it forward.
