“I”
A single letter.
A word we use throughout our lives.
Perhaps the backbone of how the mind tells its story.
I think.
I want.
I fear.
I love.
I own.
I am.
And yet this familiar “I” eventually confronts us with a remarkably difficult question:
Who am I?
We spend much of life learning about the world around us. We build identities, relationships, careers, ambitions and beliefs. We learn how to succeed, survive and belong.
But how often do we turn the enquiry toward the one who says “I”?
Dialogue with Self — Life Nurtured begins there.
Not with an answer, but with an enquiry.
Through twelve interconnected dialogues—Who Am I?, Purpose, Ownership, Discipline, Health & Longevity, Mind & Awareness, Relationships, Fear, Happiness, Self Nature, Reinvention, and Freedom & Reborn—Ravi Kumar Battaram explores the assumptions through which we understand ourselves and the life we are living.
What do I really own?
Is discipline something I need to acquire—or is my life already disciplined around something?
When a thought appears, who is listening to it?
Is fear in the world before me, or also in the mind interpreting it?
Is happiness something to achieve, something biology creates, something thought interprets—or something else entirely?
And if the identity I have spent a lifetime constructing keeps changing, what exactly is the “I” seeking freedom?
These dialogues move through lived experience, observation, science, nature and self-enquiry—not to establish another philosophy, but to look more closely at what may already be happening within us.
There are no instructions here for becoming someone else.
Perhaps the invitation is simpler:
to observe,
to enquire,
and to meet the Self we so easily call “I.”
The book may end.
The dialogue need not.
