The unforgettable account of the scruffy stray who taught an entire nursing home how to love again.
Dawn Milsom was having the worst day of her career when she met Kev.
A poor inspection. A staff resignation. An angry family threatening legal action. Standing in a cold car park, questioning whether she should just quit, she was ready to give up on care work entirely.

Then a scruffy ginger tom appeared at her feet—and wouldn’t leave.
What happened next changed everything.

Over fourteen remarkable months, Kev became more than a therapy cat. He became a teacher, a healer, and a reminder that the most important work happens in the smallest moments.

In this unforgettable account, you’ll meet:
🐾 Maureen, who wanted to die after losing her husband—until Kev gave her afternoons worth living for.
🐾 Bert, an 87-year-old veteran convinced he was done with friendship—until a cat decided otherwise.
🐾 Grace, reclaiming her voice after a stroke—with a patient listener who didn’t need perfect words.
🐾 Janet, lost in dementia’s fog—finding calm in the presence of orange fur and steady purring.
🐾 And Dawn, learning that good care isn’t about protocols or paperwork—it’s about showing up and loving anyway.

But this isn’t just a story about what Kev did for them. It’s about what happens when one small creature teaches an entire community how to care properly—by proving that presence matters more than solutions, that love doesn’t need words, and that the courage to keep showing up is what truly heals.
