I liked a photo of my cousin with my fiancé—Luca and Bianca sitting in a VIP box at a stadium, smiling like they owned the world. Bianca's caption read: Thank you for never missing a single important moment in my life. After liking it, I calmly canceled the wedding we were supposed to have in two weeks.

That morning, Luca and I were scheduled to file for our marriage license, witnessed by advisers from both Families—a public declaration of peace between the Grecos and the Russos. I waited forty minutes. All I got was a call: "Bianca needs me. Handle it yourself."

Bianca was an orphan protected by a Family oath. If she so much as whispered she was afraid, everyone dropped everything—including Luca. He forgot our license deadline. He forgot I was the bride he was about to marry. He remembered every last thing about her. But he forgot me.

Fine. If he never misses one of her moments, I'll let him stand in front of every Family member, boss, and ally—waiting for a bride who is never going to show up.
