Victor Dennison was supposed to die.

After years of murder, feeding on human flesh, and finally killing an alpha, the werewolf Council had already decided his fate. But when Sorin—the enforcer sent to execute him—chooses mercy instead, Victor is given something he never expected to survive long enough to face: another chance.

It comes with conditions.

Under constant supervision and surrounded by wolves who fear, hate, and distrust him, Victor must learn to control the hunger that has governed his life for fifteen years. Every mistake is recorded. Every act of restraint is questioned. And mercy does not erase the people he killed, the families left behind, or the pack still grieving Callum Reyes.

Meanwhile, Detective Mara Voss has not stopped hunting him. As her investigation draws closer to the hidden supernatural world, Victor can no longer rely on disappearing whenever the consequences become too heavy to carry.

Then violence comes looking for him again.

With enemies determined to prove that a monster cannot change, Victor is forced to confront the question at the heart of his second chance: is mercy something a person receives—or something they must spend the rest of their life earning?

Dark, violent, and emotionally charged, The Scent of Mercy continues Victor Dennison’s story as a killer learns that surviving judgment may be easier than becoming someone worthy of the life he was allowed to keep.
