Why do Thai people check lucky colors before leaving home, choose an auspicious time to begin something important, keep amulets close, visit fortune-tellers—and still trust data, technology, and common sense?

Welcome to the wonderfully complicated world of belief in modern Thailand.

Gossip in Thailand: Beliefs, Ghosts & Good Luck explores the small beliefs, rituals, superstitions, and everyday habits that quietly live alongside modern Thai life.

From lucky colors and auspicious timing to fortune-telling, spirit houses, sacred trees, lottery numbers, amulets, and the curious coexistence of Buddhism, Hindu-Brahman traditions, local spirits, and modern technology, this book looks at a Thailand that visitors may see every day without fully noticing.

But this isn't a guide to proving whether ghosts are real or lucky numbers actually work.

It's about people.

It's about the little things we do when logic has done everything it can—and we still want a little reassurance before facing tomorrow.

Written with humor, curiosity, and an insider's view of everyday Thai life, this book invites you into a world where someone can check an AI-generated forecast in the morning, visit a shrine in the afternoon, keep an amulet in the car, and still say:

"I don't really believe in this stuff."

Maybe they do.

Maybe they don't.

But in Thailand, sometimes the answer is much simpler:

"Well... it doesn't hurt."
