He was hired to protect her.
He was never supposed to fall in love with her.
And someone will kill to keep the truth buried.

Three years after her father's mysterious death, Sophia Bennett inherits control of the powerful Bennett Foundation—and suddenly, her life is no longer her own. Threatening messages begin arriving. Someone is watching her. Someone knows secrets about her father's final days that Sophia was never meant to discover. Then Ethan Cole enters her life. A former security specialist with a dangerous past, Ethan is hired to keep Sophia alive. His rules are simple: protect her, never leave her alone, and never let his feelings get in the way. But Ethan knows more about Sophia's father than he is willing to admit. Three years ago, Richard Bennett gave Ethan a final warning—and a mysterious black key—with one desperate request: Protect my daughter. Now Sophia is uncovering evidence that her father's death was not what it seemed. And the closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous her enemies become. As Ethan and Sophia are forced into hiding, suspicion gives way to trust, and trust slowly becomes something neither of them can control. Because Ethan isn't just protecting Sophia anymore. He's falling in love with her. But loving Sophia may be the most dangerous thing Ethan has ever done. And when a hidden conspiracy begins closing in, Sophia must decide what she's willing to risk for the truth—and whether the man she was never supposed to love is the one person she can trust with her life. Secrets. Betrayal. Danger. Forbidden love.
