Having spent the last ten years in Asia, I was the American fish taken out of the American waters, and it gave me a clearer view of the nation where I was born and raised - of the nation I call my own, sometimes with a sense of shame, and other times, with a sense of pride.

While in South Korea, when I first read the story of an American family being barred from selling their produce at a Lansing farmer's market because they turned down requests to host a "same-sex" wedding on their farm, I was deeply troubled. As I watched the appointment of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, a man vetted a hundred times over, nearly get character- (and career-) assassinated by a woman whose allegations were denied by the three witnesses she offered, and watched as the American justice system nearly collapsed under the emotional chants of "Believe Women! Believe Women!", I was appalled. I began to recognize my home country is deeply fractured.

While there were other glaring signs of America having a gaping hole in the bottom of her ship, I had been back in America little more than a year and a half when 9/10 happened. Charlie Kirk, a man of principle, a man of faith, and a man of righteous power was struck down. This was not only a profound statement on the present State of the Union. It was a defining statement! What was Charlie's crime, worthy of capital punishment? Are we the Land of the Free? Why did I feel safer in China? Are we a nation "Under God"? What does it mean to be "American"? It has to mean something. It cannot mean everything.

Christ came teaching repentance, a "turning away" from the wrong ways! A turning away from bad ideas, of which so many young Americans are now victims of, suffering from.

Truth does not change with the changes of society, the changing of the years, or the fickle minds of selfish, godless men. The ancient truths were born in the heart of the Living God, and like Him, they are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The book you hold in your hands is a book of ideas and insights penned at a coffee shop in Nanjing, China, where I worked as a strength coach at the Nanjing Olympic Training Center. The second half was penned in my basement apartment, in Lynchburg, Virginia, inspired by and in honor of statesman Charlie Kirk. It is a collection of 300 principles related to all-things “HUMAN”: prayer, healing, friendship, personal boundaries, American values, false power, cultural norms, and personal responsibility. The second half of the book illuminates over 200 Bible passages illustrating who Christ is, what he did and said, and how HE applies to each person individually.
