This book is organized into twelve chapters, each a surgical examination of a different dimension of this question. We will move from the cosmic origins of legal transgression to the colonial codification of racial hierarchy, from the Solomonic wisdom tradition as an alternative jurisprudence to the prophetic tradition as the world’s oldest civil-society challenge to state power, from the nature of divine law as the only non-negotiable juridical text to the eschatological judgment that awaits every legal order that elevated human authority above divine mandate.
