The French Revolutionary War, 1798. Back in the 136th Foot after his spell in the Marines, Lieutenant Gregory Kennett thirsts for promotion.

When his colonel disapproves of his methods, Gregory’s time in his regiment is cut short. Again sent to the Marines, he finds himself in the Mediterranean, fighting to prevent General Bonaparte from emulating Alexander the Great’s exploits in carving out an Asian empire.

During the siege of Acre, Gregory finds an ornate golden box that could be the key to his promotion, and rescues a slave from a Turkish seraglio. Both are interlinked in a web that involves the destiny of Malta, the most strategic island in the Mediterranean.

From the Levant to Egypt by way of Malta, Gregory must fight his way through savage battles, sudden raids and intrigue in BLOCKING BONAPARTE, the third book in Malcolm Archibald's series of historical war novels.
