GENESIS — VOLUME II

From Promise to Transformation
The covenant has been established. Now the promise must be lived out.
Genesis Volume II: From Promise to Transformation explores Genesis Chapters 16–33, tracing the unfolding covenant story from Hagar and Ishmael to Jacob’s return and reconciliation with Esau.
The volume begins with the consequences of human impatience in the story of Hagar and Ishmael, before moving into the covenant of circumcision, the visit of the three heavenly messengers, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the long-awaited birth of Isaac.
Abraham’s faith is then tested in one of Scripture’s most searching moments: the offering of Isaac. Sarah’s death closes an era, while the securing of a wife for Isaac prepares the covenant line to continue into another generation.
The narrative then turns decisively toward Isaac, Jacob and Esau.
The birthright and blessing become bound up with family preference, rivalry and deception. Jacob leaves home, encounters God at Bethel, serves for Rachel, builds a household, prospers despite Laban’s schemes, and eventually begins the difficult journey back toward the brother he once wronged.
Yet Jacob does not return unchanged.
Before meeting Esau, he wrestles through the night and receives a new name: Israel.
The man who had spent so much of his life striving, grasping and manoeuvring is confronted, humbled and marked by his encounter with God.
Genesis 33 then brings the volume to a moving conclusion as Jacob and Esau meet again—not in the bloodshed Jacob feared, but in reconciliation.
Throughout these chapters, Genesis develops some of Scripture’s most enduring themes: covenant, promise, faith, inheritance, testing, provision, family division, divine protection, providence, discipline, transformation and reconciliation.
Presented in the distinctive Every Verse Bible Study Hub format, Genesis Volume II combines detailed biblical study with chapter summaries, Biblical Context Prophetic Foundation material, carefully defined prophetic connections and an extensive cinematic visual narrative designed to deepen understanding while keeping the biblical text at the centre.
From Hagar in the wilderness to Jacob wrestling with God, and from Abraham’s test on Moriah to the embrace of two estranged brothers, the covenant story continues to demonstrate one central truth:
Human weakness does not overturn divine purpose.
The promise is preserved.
The covenant continues.
And Jacob becomes Israel.
