Thirteen-year-old Jonathan Eaton has always known he is different. Brilliant, solitary and relentlessly curious, he is more at home with books, puzzles, and piano than with other boys his age. He has spent his life feeling somehow out of place, and then, discovers why.

The people who raised him are not his parents, and the mysterious man who has recently entered his life is not who he claims to be. He is Sherlock Holmes, the world's most famous detective, and, Jonathan's father.

Devastated by the revelation, and furious with the man who gave him away, Jonathan abandons everything and everyone he's ever known, and turns up in London's East End. There he meets Abigail, a young music-hall performer who takes him in and poses a question Jonathan cannot ignore. If Sherlock Holmes is his father, then who was his mother, and what happened to her? Jonathan determines to find out.

His investigation leads him to a collection of Dr John Watson's unpublished writings, revealing an intimate chapter of Holmes' life deliberately omitted from the famous stories. Following a trail buried for more than a decade, Jonathan uncovers old alliances, carefully guarded secrets, and clues to a mystery even Sherlock Holmes could never bring himself to solve.

A mystery, an adventure, and a coming-of-age story, Son of Sherlock explores family, identity, friendship, betrayal and what it means to inherit a legacy you never asked for.
