Molly Harper is completely over her ex-boyfriend.
At least, that's what she's been telling herself for three years.
So when charming, infuriatingly handsome Jack Bennett unexpectedly walks back into her life claiming that leaving her was the biggest mistake he ever made, Molly is determined to prove she has moved on.
There is just one tiny problem.
She hasn't actually moved on with anyone.
Enter Daniel Shah: Molly's dependable, organised and maddeningly sensible coworker, who happens to be standing in exactly the wrong place when Molly panics and announces that he's her boyfriend.
One little lie should be easy enough to fix.
Instead, it leads to a fake six-month relationship, an enthusiastic matchmaking grandmother, Daniel's very welcoming family, an imaginary romantic encounter involving Belgium and a dachshund, escaped swans, disastrous love notes and far too much tactical touching.
And somewhere between pretending to fall for Daniel and wondering whether Jack deserves a second chance, Molly discovers that the safest man in the room might also be the one capable of turning her entire life upside down.
Because sometimes the person who makes your heart race isn't the person who makes it feel at home.
The Accidental Plus-One is a funny, warm and feel-good romantic comedy about second chances, fake dating, unexpected love and discovering that happily-ever-after might have been sitting three desks away all along.
