One missing recipe. Two families who claim it. A century-old secret someone is desperate to keep buried.

Cookbook editor Mara Ellery returns to her family’s historic Vermont inn expecting a crowded Thanksgiving celebration—and a difficult reunion with the home she left behind. Instead, the treasured recipe at the heart of the inn’s hundredth Community Thanksgiving Table disappears from a locked display.

The theft should be a family embarrassment. Then an anonymous warning arrives.

As Mara follows a trail of altered measurements, missing archive pages, hidden compartments, and long-silenced letters, the Gilded Maple Inn’s comforting legend begins to unravel. The recipe did not belong to one family. Neither, perhaps, does the inn.

With the help of restoration carpenter Luke Mercer, a determined sheriff, and an elderly orange cat who notices more than anyone expects, Mara must uncover who stole the recipe—and why someone is willing to dismantle the past before the town can read it.

Warm, atmospheric, and rich with autumn food and small-town secrets, The Thanksgiving Table Mystery is the first Amberwick Holiday Mystery. Perfect for readers who enjoy clean cozy mysteries, clever historical clues, culinary intrigue, family secrets, charming Vermont settings, and a gentle second-chance spark.

At the Gilded Maple Inn, every place at the table hides a story.
