Every dry season, the skies of El Salvador fill with color. Piscuchas teaches you to make and fly the kites behind that tradition — as Jose Morales learned them, through his family and community.

From a simple diamond to the six-spoke hexagonal piscucha, a six-pointed star, a box kite, and a large-scale display build, this full-color guide walks through each kite the same clear way: its frame, its covering, its bridle, and the finished kite in flight. You'll also learn why a kite flies, so you can read yours in the air and fix it — plus chapters on color and decoration, launching, troubleshooting, and repair.

More than a how-to, it's an act of keeping. A carefully sourced closing note honors the craft's Salvadoran roots and distinguishes them from the separate Guatemalan giant-kite tradition. Bright, practical, and made to be built from.
