Nobody hands you a manual when you step behind the bench. So I wrote the one I wish I’d had.

Fourteen seasons. Hundreds of practices. Thousands of car rides, tournament weekends, and locker room talks.

How to Coach Local League Hockey is the playbook I built from real experience—coaching local league kids, learning what works, making mistakes, and figuring it out along the way.

Packed with practical tools, proven strategies, and real stories, this book will help you build better practices, develop every player, manage the bench, work with parents, create a positive team culture, and build a team your players love being part of—and remember long after the final buzzer.

This isn’t a book about chasing banners at all costs. It’s about developing players, building confidence, creating belonging, and making hockey an experience kids want to come back to year after year.
