THE LOST LOVE
Some loves end. Some loves wait. And some loves survive an entire lifetime.
In the small town of Bahadurganj, where the river moves quietly and the bazaar remembers everyone's secrets, twenty-seven-year-old Raghav Shukla lives a simple life. He teaches history at the local school and spends his evenings surrounded by old books in his father's crumbling ancestral haveli.
Then Meera walks into his life.
She is new to town—a quiet young woman who loves old books, poetry, and everything that belongs to the past. Their first meeting takes place in the school library, but their connection soon grows beyond its walls. They walk through the narrow streets, sit beside the river, recite poetry at the old ghat, and share silences that say more than words ever could.
They never need a dramatic confession.
Their love exists in small things—a hand held beside the river, a poem whispered under the evening sky, the scent of mogra flowers, and the dream that perhaps the world could stop long enough for them to remain together.
But the world does not stop.
In a conservative town where gossip travels faster than truth, whispers about Raghav and Meera eventually reach her family. Then, just when Raghav believes Meera has something important to tell him, tragedy strikes.
A fire tears through the railway colony.
Meera's father and younger brother are killed.
Meera disappears.
No body is ever found.
Raghav refuses to believe that she is dead. He waits at the old ghat, hoping she will return. Days become months. Months become years. Years become decades.
But Meera never comes.
As the years pass, Raghav gives up everything except his memories. He leaves his teaching job and transforms part of his ancestral home into a tiny library. The townspeople begin calling him mad. They cannot understand why a man would spend his entire life waiting for someone who vanished half a century ago.
But Raghav knows something they don't.
Some promises do not expire.
Every year, on Meera's birthday, on the anniversary of the fire, and on the day they first met, he writes her a letter. He never sends them because he has nowhere to send them. Still, writing keeps her alive inside him.
