A year after her arrival at Sonnenhang, Hildegard Bergmann is eighty and quite at home among the walnut tree, the conservatory and her friend Rosa. Then a visitor lets slip an unsettling story: at another home, the Bergheim, the months before an old woman's death were full of quiet personnel changes and new night-time routines no one quite wants to explain. When troubling things begin to happen after dark at Sonnenhang too, Hildegard's court-clerk instincts return - and lead her toward the people who watch over the sleeping. The second Mrs Bergmann Investigates mystery: a warm, clever cosy crime novel about trust, care and the things that happen while everyone else is asleep.
